NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team was unable to solve the pressure defense of Gustavus Adolphus in a 78-45 loss on Monday.
The Knights were held to six first-quarter points and trailed 36-16 at the half after shooting 25.9 percent from the field and committing 21 turnovers against the Gusties' full-court pressure.
MLC started to get things going on offense in the second half, but the Gusties shot 48.4 percent from the field in the last two quarters to build the lead over 30 on the way to the win.
The Knights finished shooting 30.4 percent from the field compared to 50.0 percent for the Gusties.
Grace Schultz led MLC with 20 points and five steals.
Jade St. Germaine added four points and seven rebounds.Â
MLC fell to 1-4 on the season in defeat. GAC improved to 3-0 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, December 1, when they travel to Calvin College for a game scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. CST.
