WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - The Martin Luther College baseball team lost both games of a double header against Medaille (NY) College by the scores of 1-0 and 11-2 on day of its annual Florida trip on Saturday.
MC 1, MLC 0
Matt Baehman's terrific collegiate debut on the mound was not enough for the Knights in a 1-0 loss in game one.
Baehman threw a complete game, allowing only one run on three hits in six innings. He struck out five while walking only one as he fell to 0-1 on the season.
The Knights were held to a pair of hits in the game: a fourth inning single by
Jason Lindemann and a fifth inning double by
Alex Smothers.
Baehman matched the Mavericks pitch for pitch through four innings, but gave up a leadoff single to start the fifth, and allowed that runner to score on a two-out error on a sacrifice bunt to give Medaille the only run it would need.

The Mavericks raced to a big lead early on the way to an 11-2 win to finish the Saturday sweep.
Medaille scored six early runs, including five in the second inning, off MLC starting pitcher
Noah Panzer. The Mavericks added two more runs in the third inning off MLC reliever
Nate Goelzer, and then tacked on three more in the seventh to finish the scoring.
MLC scored its two runs on a two-run single by
Jon Kock in the third inning that scored
Andrew Mantz and Baehman. Kock led the Knights with a pair of hits in the game.
Panzer took the loss on the mound after allowing six runs (three earned) in two innings. He fell to 0-1 on the season.
MLC dropped to 1-3 on the season following the two defeats. Medaille opened its season 2-0 thanks to the two wins.
The Knights will return to action in Winter Haven tomorrow (Sunday, March 5) when they face Cazenovia in a double header scheduled to start at 12 p.m.Â
