ST. BONIFACIUS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team scored a big win at Crown College on Wednesday by the final score of 3-1.
Rachel Bitter put the Knights on the board in the 15th minute, and then pushed the MLC lead to 2-0 in the opening minute of the second half off a pass from
Lydia Bitter. The two goals give
Rachel Bitter a team-best five so far this season.
The Knights continued to pressure the Storm and were rewarded early in the second half when
Abby Enstad scored in the 50th minute to give MLC a commanding 3-0 lead. Enstad's goal was her second this season.
The Storm were able to break through for one goal in the 84th minute against the MLC defense, but that was all they could muster as the Knights cruised to the win.
Rachel Bitter led the offensive charge for the Knights with seven shots and the two goals. Enstad added three shots.
Mollie Fischer continued her strong season in goal for MLC, stopping eight of the Storm's nine shots on goal.
The Knights improved to 3-10 on the season and 3-4 in UMAC play with the win. Crown fell to 4-8 overall and 2-6 in league play in defeat.
MLC will return to action on Saturday, October 13, when it travels to UW-Superior for a game scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
