SUPERIOR, Wis. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to slow down UMAC-leading UW-Superior in a 3-1 loss on Saturday.
The Knights held the Yellowjackets off the scoreboard for most of the first half, but UWS was able to take a 1-0 lead into halftime thanks to a goal in the 35th minute.
The score remained 1-0 until the 76th minute when the Yellowjackets added two goals in a three-minute stretch to push their lead to 3-0.
Joe Graumann put the Knights on the board with his eighth goal of the season off a
Luke Meihack assist in the 82nd minute, but the Knights were unable to cut any further into the deficit the rest of the way.
UWS was credited with 23 shots in the game, eight of which were on goal. MLC keeper
Gabriel Plocher stopped five of the eight shots he faced.
MLC was credited with six shots, with
Josh Koelpin leading the way with three shots (two on goal).Â
The Knights fell to 4-8-2 on the season and 3-3-2 in UMAC play with the loss. The Yellowjackets improved to 12-2-1 overall and 7-0-1 in league play following the win.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday, October 16, when it travels to Minnesota Morris for a game scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
