MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team lost 1-0 at Minnesota Morris on Tuesday.
The two teams battled to a scoreless draw through one half of play, but the Cougars finally put something on the scoreboard with a long distance goal by Yu Ito in the 66th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
That would be all the scoring for either team, as the Cougars held off the MLC offense down the stretch to preserve the one-goal win.
Rachel Bitter and
Lydia Bitter led MLC with four shots apiece, and also combined for three shots on goal.Â
In goal for MLC,
Mollie Fischer stopped six of the seven UMM shots on goal. She has now allowed only one goal in each of her last five conference games, but this marks the third time during that stretch the Knights have been on the wrong end of a 1-0 result.Â
MLC fell to 3-12 on the season and 3-6 in UMAC play with the loss. UMM improved to 6-8 overall and 6-4 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, October 20, when they travel to Northwestern for a game scheduled to kick off at 3:30 p.m.
