NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team found its groove offensively in a 4-1 win over North Central University on Tuesday.
The Knights jumped out front early, as
Carissa Friebe scored her first career goal in the game's eighth minute to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.Â
MLC continued to press on the offensive end and was rewarded with goals by
Emily Witkowski in the 10th minute, and
Morgan Hill in the 26th minute to take a 3-0 halftime lead.
Witkowski's goal came off an assist from Hill, while
Rachel Bitter set up Hill's goal with a hard shot.Â
The Rams cut into the MLC lead with a goal in the 59th minute, but the Knights put the game away with a
Rachel Bitter goal from distance off a
Lydia Bitter pass in the 74th minute to put the game away.
Mollie Fischer had a strong day in goal under tough, wet conditions with 10 saves out of 11 NCU shots on goal.Â
Rachel Bitter led the team with seven total shots, including two shots on goal. Hill and
Lydia Bitter also added a pair of shots on goal.
MLC improved to 2-8 on the season and 2-3 in UMAC play with the win. NCU fell to 3-7 overall and 1-5 in league play in defeat.Â
The Knights will return to action tomorrow (Wednesday, October 3) when they host Hamline in a game scheduled to start at 4 p.m.
