ST. PETER, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team lost 87-46 at Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday on the second day of a two-day tournament hosted by the Gusties.
The Gusties took control early, outscoring MLC 29-9 in the first quarter on the way to building a big lead.
The Knights picked up the offensive pace in the second half. After scoring only 17 points through two quarters, MLC scored 29 points in the second half.
GAC shot 55.0 percent from the field and made 11-22 from beyond the three-point arc. The Knights finished the game shooting 31.5 percent and made six of 16 from downtown.
Emily Witkowski led the Knights with 10 points.
Sydney Cody scored eight points, while
Sarah Dewey and
Faith Otte each added seven points. Otte also dished out a team-high six assists.
MLC fell to 0-3 on the season in defeat. GAC improved to 2-1 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, November 20, when they travel to St. Olaf for a game scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
