MANKATO, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team was unable to slow down the Vikings of Bethany Lutheran College in a 97-60 loss on Wednesday.
The Knights started strong and trailed 50-37 at the end of the second quarter, but BLC outscored MLC 26-7 in the third quarter to put the Knights away.
MLC committed only eight turnovers in the first half, but 22 miscues in the final two periods helped the Vikings create distance and put the game out of reach.
The Knights shot well from the outside, making 11 of 21 attempts from beyond the three-point arc, but BLC out-rebounded MLC 46-31 and outscored the Knights 33-5 in second chance points. The Vikings also scored 37 points off turnovers in the game compared to 11 for the Knights.
MLC also had no answer for BLC's Abby Olson, who finished the game with 36 points on 14-20 shooting from the field (including 7-11 from three-point range). She also added nine assists and four steals.
Emily Witkowski led MLC with 13 points to go with three assists in the game.

Kati Aguilar joined her in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Cassandra Anklam and
Sydney Cody tied for the team lead with six rebounds.
MLC fell to 1-9 on the season and 1-2 in UMAC play in defeat. BLC improved to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in league action with the win.
The Knights will return home for their final game before the Christmas break against UW-Superior on Saturday, December 15. That game is scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m.
