DULUTH, Minn. - The Martin Luther College baseball team lost both games of its doubleheader at St. Scholastica by the scores of 12-0 and 14-2 in its return to action for the first game action in 46 days.
CSS 12, MLC 0 (7 innings)
St. Scholastica jumped on top in the first inning and never looked back as it defeated MLC 12-0 in game one.
The Saints' first three batters reached base and scored to give CSS an early lead, and they would cruise the rest of the way for the win.
Adam Kock (1-1) started the game for MLC and allowed seven runs on seven hits and two walks in four innings.
Matt Baehman,
Tyler Roecker,
Dillon Solomon and
Caleb Christopher accounted for the four MLC hits.
CSS 14, MLC 2 (8 innings)
The Saints finished the sweep with a 14-2 win in game two in eight innings.
CSS jumped on top early once again with four runs in the first inning, and followed that with four more runs in the fifth inning, as well as three runs in both the seventh and eighth innings.
Baehman (1-2) started the game and pitched five innings, allowing eight runs (five earned) on six hits, three walks and three hit batters.
Noah Panzer and
Luke Willems finished the game in relief for MLC.
Jared Lindemann drove in Baehman to open the scoring for the Knights in the first inning, and
Joey Behm drove in the second run in the seventh inning with a single to score
Adam Westra.
MLC fell to 2-8 on the season and 0-2 in UMAC play with the two losses. CSS improved to 16-6 overall and 7-1 in UMAC play with the sweep.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, April 25, when they host Bethany Lutheran College in a doubleheader at Northwestern-St. Paul. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
