NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College baseball team lost both games of its doubleheader against UW-Superior by the scores of 10-4 and 9-0 on Friday at Mueller Park.
UWS 10, MLC 4
MLC was unable to overcome one bad inning in a 10-4 game-one defeat.
The Knights jumped to a 3-0 lead after the top half of the fourth inning, but the Yellowjackets came all the way back thanks to a sixth-run fourth inning. UWS then added two runs in the fifth inning, and one more in each of the sixth and seventh frames.
Adam Kock (0-3) started the game for MLC and allowed nine runs (six earned) on eight hits. Defensively, the Knights struggled at times behind him with four costly errors.
Jared Lindemann and
Matt Baehman led MLC with three hits apiece.
UWS 9, MLC 0
UWS scored three runs in three separate innings on the way to a 9-0 win in game two.
The Yellowjacts scored three times in the first, third and sixth innings off Baehman (1-3), who started the game and pitched all eight innings for the Knights. Baehman allowed nine runs on 11 hits and three walks in the loss.
MLC had a number of scoring chances thanks to four hits and eight walks, but was unable to come away with any timely hits to put runs on the board.
Tyler Roecker led the team with two hits in the game.
The Knights fell to 2-12 on the season and 0-6 in UMACÂ play in defeat. UWS improved to 5-20 overall and 4-7 in league play with the win.
MLC will return to action on Sunday, April 29, when it travels to Northwestern-St. Paul for a doubleheader.Â
