Box Score DULUTH, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team suffered its first conference defeat of the season by the score of 4-1 at St. Scholastica on Saturday.
The Knights started well, as junior
Joe Graumann put the Knights ahead 1-0 in the 21st minute with his fourth goal of the season, but that would be all the scoring MLC could muster in the game.
CSS quickly tied the game just over one minute after Graumann's opening tally, and then added a second goal in the 40th minute (following a weather delay due to lightning) to give the Saints a 2-1 halftime edge.
The Saints pushed hard to open the second half and were rewarded with their third goal in the 48th minute, and then added the final insurance goal off a penalty kick in the 76th minute.
The Knights were credited with eight shots in the game, but only two were on goal. Graumann and
Hugo Ugalde-Bemer each finished with two shots for MLC.
MLC fell to 2-4-2 overall and 1-1-2 in UMAC play in defeat. CSS improved to 4-2-1 on the season and 3-0-1 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on September 26 when they travel to Viterbo for a game scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
