LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to hold onto an early two-goal lead in a 4-2 loss at Viterbo on Wednesday.
Joe Graumann opened the scoring in the ninth minute with his fifth goal of the season, and
Joel Koelpin pushed the MLC lead to 2-0 in the 26th minute following his second of the season.
Hugo Ugalde-Bemer assisted on both MLC goals.
The V-Hawks answered with a goal in the 28th minute to cut the MLC lead to 2-1 going into halftime, and then found the equalizer in the 51st minute to tie the game 2-2.
Shortly after Viterbo tied the game, the V-Hawks took the lead with a goal in the 59th minute, and then added an insurance tally in the 81st minute to put the game away.
The two teams were even on the stat sheet for much of the game. The V-Hawks outshot the Knights 26-24, but MLC held a 12-6 advantage in shots on goal.
Ugalde-Bemer led MLC with five shots and four shots on goal.

Joel Koelpin each recorded four shots for the Knights.
MLC fell to 2-5-2 on the season with the loss. Viterbo improved to 2-6-1 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Sunday, September 30, when they host Augsburg for a game scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
