NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team lost a non-conference game against Augsburg 3-0 on Sunday afternoon.
The two teams battled to a scoreless tie through the first 45 minutes as both teams recorded only four shots. The Knights played a strong defensive half with a revamped line-up, featuring forwards
Joe Graumann and
Aaron Swanson on defense.
The Auggies started to take control early in the second half, and finally got on the scoreboard in the 60th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
Augsburg continued to push and scored a second goal just 67 seconds after the opening goal, and then added a third and final tally in the 69th minute to put the game away.
Dan Wessel finished with two of the team's four shots, including one on goal.
Joel Koelpin recorded the other shot on goal for MLC.
The Knights fell to 2-6-2 on the season in defeat, while Augsburg improved to 7-2 with the win.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday, October 2, when it hosts North Central University in a game scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m.
