RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team struggled in a 9-0 defeat at UW-River Falls on Wednesday.
The Falcons broke a scoreless tie in the 24th minute on a goal by Camryn Altnau, and then added three more tallies before the end of the first half to build a 4-0 halftime lead.
It would be more of the same in the second half as UWRF pair of goals in the first 15 minutes after the break, and finished the game with three more insurance goals to get the final margin.
The Falcons were credited with 35 shots in the game, 25 of which were on goal.
Mollie Fischer made 10 stops in goal in the first half, while
Maria Tomassetti stopped six of the 11 shots she faced in the second half.
MLC fell to 0-2 on the season following the loss. UWRFÂ improved to 2-1-1 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, September 8, when they host Buena Vista in a game scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
