Box Score CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The Martin Luther College volleyball team battled St. Thomas in a 3-0 (25-23, 25-14, 25-11) defeat on day one of a two-day tournament at Coe College on Friday.

The Knights battled the number 17 team in the nation to a 25-23 defeat in the first set, and played strong defense throughout the match, but were unable to overcome the quality of the Tommies in defeat.

MLC fell to 4-18 on the season in defeat, while St. Thomas improved to 22-3 with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday (October 19) at Coe with a pair of matches. MLC will face Millikin at 12 p.m., followed by a match against the host Kohawks at 2 p.m.
