MANKATO, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team was unable to slow down the offensive attack of the Bethany Lutheran College Vikings in a 7-0 defeat on Wednesday.
The Vikings started fast in their first game on a new turf field, scoring goals in the fifth and 12th minutes to take a 2-0 lead into the half.
BLC would continue to attack on offense in the second half, scoring in the 47th minute and then adding four more goals the rest of the way to secure the win.
BLC finished with 30 total shots in the game, including 19 shots on goal. MLC keeper
Joshua Higgins stopped 12 Viking shots in defeat.
The MLC offense was credited with five shots in the game, including two from both
Joe Graumann and
Mark Burger.
MLC fell to 3-8-2 on the season and 1-2-0 in UMAC play in defeat. BLC improved to 9-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in UMAC play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, October 11, when they travel to St. Scholastica for a game scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m. The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, October 12, but was moved up one day due to bad weather in Saturday's forecast.Â
