NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team struggled on the offensive end in a 65-40 loss to Viterbo in Tuesday's home opener.
The Knights were held to only two field goals in the first quarter as the V-Hawks built a 19-6 lead on the way to a 31-15 halftime lead.
MLC battled in the second half, but was unable to keep pace with the V-Hawks and their aggressive defense the rest of the way in defeat.
The Knights committed 17 turnovers in the first half and finished the game with 27 miscues that led to 30 Viterbo points on the other end.Â
Emily Witkowski led MLC with 12 points to go with six rebounds.
Ally Platzer added eight points off the bench.Â
MLC fell to 0-3 on the season in defeat. Viterbo improved to 2-3 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, November 16, when they host UW-River Falls in a game scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
