NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team closed the 2019 calendar year with a 113-48 loss to Luther College on Friday.

The Knights could not handle the Norse press defense all game as MLC turned the ball over 48 times. 29 of those turnovers were live ball steals, helping Luther finish with 55 points off turnovers and 37 total fast break points.

The Norse scored 40 points in the opening quarter and kept the pedal down throughout the game, scoring at least 20 points in each quarter on the way to win.

Luther shot 42.6 percent from the field and dominated the glass, out-rebounding MLC 47-33 overall and out-scoring the Knights 24-9 in second-chance points.

Emily Witkowski was the lone MLC player in double figures with 11 points. 

MLC fell to 0-11 on the season in defeat. Luther improved to 4-5 with the win.

The Knights will return to action on January 8, when they host St. Scholastica in an Upper Midwest Athletic Conference match-up scheduled to tip off at 7:15 p.m.
