NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther women's basketball team closed its season with a 75-34 loss to Northwestern-St. Paul on Saturday.
The Eagles jumped out to big leads in the first and third quarters, outscoring the Knights 39-3 in those periods on the way to the win.
MLC battled back with a 21-point second quarter, and then outscored the Eagles 10-8 in the fourth period, but could not overcome the early deficit as the Eagles closed out the win.
UNW moved the ball with precision throughout the game and assisted on 30 of its 31 baskets while shooting 50.0 percent from the field for the game.
Jamee Wohling led the Knights with nine points off the bench.
Emily Witkowski added seven points for MLC.
The Knights closed the season 2-23 overall and 2-14 in UMAC play following the loss. UNW improved to 13-12 on the season and 10-6 in league play, and will play in next week's UMAC Postseason Tournament as the fourth seed.
