LAKEVILLE, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team earned its first win of the season by the final score of 6-3 against North Central University on Tuesday at Lifetime Fitness Center.
The Knights opened the day with a pair of wins in doubles competition. The number one team of
Anna Hemmelman and
Morgan Shevey won 8-0, while the number three team of
Tatum Bollmeier and
Dana Pietrzyk also swept all eight points.
MLC closed out the team with four victories in singles competition. Hemmelman won her number one siingles match 6-0, 6-2, while
Ella Loersch and Bollmeier took home straight sets wins in numbers four and six singles. Shevey won her number three match in three sets 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-8).
The Knights improved to 1-4 on the season with the non-conference win. NCU fell to 0-2 following the loss.
MLC will return to action on Saturday, February 23, when it travels to Baseline Tennis Center to take on Hamline University at 1:30 p.m.
