WAVERLY, Iowa - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team lost its final non-conference tune up before returning to UMAC play 8-1 at Wartburg on Wednesday.
Anna Hemmelman scored the lone point for the Knights with a straight sets win (6-3, 6-0). The win marked Hemmelman's third straight singles victory this season, and the sixth win in her last seven matches.Â
Morgan Shevey (7-6, 4-6, 1-0) battled back to force a third set in a defeat in number-three singles, while Wartburg took the other four matches in straight sets.
In doubles, Wartburg took the three matches by the scores of 8-5, 8-1 and 8-0.
MLC dropped to 2-7 on the season with the loss, while Wartburg improved to 14-2 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, March 30, when they travel to UW-Superior for a match scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
