NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team defeated North Central University 7-2 in a non-conference match Tuesday.
The Knights opened the match by taking two of three possible points in doubles play. The team of
Anna Hemmelman and
Morgan Shevey won their number-one match 8-1, while the number-three team of
Tatum Bollmeier and
Dana Pietrzyk won 8-0.
In singles, five of the six MLC players won their matches in straight sets. Hemmelman (6-1, 6-0), Shevey (6-3, 7-5), Pietrzyk (7-5, 6-0) and Bollmeier (6-0, 6-0) each finished with wins in both singles and doubles, while
Sophia Birner (6-1, 6-2) won her number-two singles match.
MLC improved to 4-11 on the season with the win. NCU fell to 1-11 in defeat.
The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, September 24, when they host Crown College in the final home match of the season.Â
