ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team was unable to slow down the Eagles from University of Northwestern-St. Paul in a 9-0 defeat Friday night.

UNW opened the match strong with three doubles wins by the scores of 8-3, 8-1 and 8-3.

In singles, Joshua Schroeder came back from an early deficit to force a third set in his number-four match, but lost the third and deciding set in a 6-1, 6-7, 1-0 loss. The Eagles took he other five singles matches in straight sets to secure the sweep.

MLC fell to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in UMAC play following the loss. UNW improved to 8-6 on the season and 2-0 in league play with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, April 9, when they travel to Minnesota Morris. The two teams will resume their suspended match earlier this week, and then play their previously scheduled non-conference match immediately following the conclusion of that.
