WINONA, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team opened the 2020 season with a 9-0 defeat at Saint Mary's (Minn.) at the Winona Tennis Center on Friday.
The Knights opened the day in doubles, where SMU took all three matches by the scores of 8-2, 8-0 and 8-1.
In singles,
Jonah Schulz took his number-two match to three sets, but ultimately loss in the third set tie-breaker by the scores of 6-7 (7-4), 7-5, 1-0 (10-1). The Cardinals won the other five matches in straight sets.Â
MLC fell to 0-1 to open the season in defeat. SMU moved to 1-0 with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Saturday, February 8, when they travel to Macalester for a match scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
