ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team was unable to keep pace with Northwestern-St. Paul in a 76-49 loss on Saturday.
The Eagles shot 57.1 percent from the field in each of the first two quarters on the way to taking a 47-17 halftime lead, and then cruised to the win in the second half.Â
UNW shot 47.6 percent for the game and was especially strong inside the arc, where it made 25 of 44 attempts (56.8 percent).Â
MLC struggled on the offensive end, shooting 20.0 percent in the first half on the way to 27.8 percent for the game while also committing 21 turnovers.
Emily Witkowski led the Knights with 12 points.
Cassandra Rose added 10 points and nine rebounds off the bench.
The Knights fell to 3-18 on the season and 3-10 in UMAC play in defeat. UNW improved to 14-8 overall and 10-3 in league play with the win.
MLC will return home on Wednesday, February 12, when it hosts North Central in the home finale. Tip off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.
