Second Half Flurry Leads BLC to Win

MANKATO, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team saw its win streak stopped at two in a 4-0 loss at Bethany Lutheran on Tuesday.

The Knights entered the game working off two straight shutouts and controlled the early going, but BLC's Maddie Perry put the Vikings on the board in the 36th minute to send MLC into halftime with a 1-0 deficit.

The score remained 1-0 until the 72nd minute, when Perry struck again with her second tally of the game. The Vikings scored twice more over the next eight minutes, including Perry's third of the game in the 80th minute to cap the scoring and secure the win.

The Knights held a 7-2 advantage in shots on goal in the first half, but BLC finished with a 23-13 lead in overall shots for the game. 

Megan Marohn led MLC with four shots on goal. Hannah Schroeder added three total shots.

Grace Sievert stopped three of the Vikings' seven shots on goal in the game.

MLC fell to 3-8-1 on the season and 2-5-1 in UMAC play in defeat. BLC improved to 8-4-0 overall and 5-2-0 in league play with the win.

The Knights will return home for its next game on Friday, October 15, when they host UW-Superior in a game scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
