MILWAUKEE, Wis - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team was unable to get going on the offensive end of the court in a 57-38 loss at Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC) on Friday.
The WLC defense made life difficult for the Knights on offense throughout the game, forcing 25 turnovers and also holding MLC to 23.5 percent shooting.
The Knights' defense was up for the challenge for much of the night, forcing the Warriors to shoot 33.3 percent from the field and 12.5 percent (3-24) from beyond the three-point line, but WLC broke the game open when it outscored MLC 19-5 in the third quarter, taking a two-point halftime lead (23-21) and turning into a 16-point advantage (42-26) going into the fourth quarter.
When the Warriors forced the Knights into miscues, they took advantage on the other end, outscoring MLC 19-1 in points off turnovers. WLC also held a 30-18 advantage in points in the paint for the game.
Lauren Paulsen was the lone MLC player in double figures with 11 points.
Anna Treder led the team with 11 rebounds.
MLC fell to 1-2 on the season in defeat. WLC improved to 1-0 to start its season with the win.
The Knights will return to the court at WLC tomorrow (Saturday, November 13) when they play UW-La Crosse in a game scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
