MOORHEAD, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's basketball team battled back from a halftime deficit, but could not complete the comeback in a 66-64 loss at Concordia-Moorhead on Saturday.
The Knights trailed 37-30 at the half, but battled back to finally tie the game 59-59 with 7:01 to play in the second half.
In the final minutes, a pair of
Micah Kieselhorst free throws with 2:31 remaining gave the Knights their first lead of the second half at 64-62.
The Cobbers took control from that point, however, scoring on their next possession to tie the game, and then taking the lead on a Jackson Jangula basket with 90 seconds to play. The Knights had several opportunities to tie or take the lead in the final minute, but could not score as the Cobbers held on for the win.
Joseph Hirsch led four MLC players in double figures with 15 points. Kieselhorst and
Isaiah Loersch each scored 11 points, while
Jack Heichelbech added 10 points.
Seth Veers and
Ezra Blumer each finished with six rebounds to lead MLC.
The Knights fell to 0-3 on the season in defeat. Concordia improved to 1-1 with the win.
MLC will return to action on Wednesday, November 17, when it travels to Hamline for a game scheduled to start at 7::45 p.m.
