WISCONSIN DELLS, Wis. - The Martin Luther College women's basketball team closed the 2021 portion of its schedule with a 69-50 loss to Finlandia University at JustAgame Fieldhouse on Sunday.

The Knights battled the Lions for much of the first half, but Finlandia closed the second quarter strong to take a 36-27 lead at the half.

Finlandia continued that momentum to start the third quarter with an 8-2 run, pushing its lead to 15 points.

Trailing 56-44 to open the fourth period, MLC was unable to get anything to fall on the offensive end in the final stanza, scoring only six points in the final 10 minutes as the Lions finished off the win.

Finlandia shot 38.5 percent for the game and did much of its damage in the paint, outscoring the Knights 38-22 inside.

Maya Price led MLC with 10 points off the bench. Erika Gosch led the Knights' starters with nine points.

MLC fell to 2-10 on the season in defeat. Finlandia improved to 4-6 with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Thursday, January 6, when they host Mount Mary in a game scheduled to tip off at 6:00 p.m.
