DULUTH, Minn. - The Martin Luther College could not slow down the unbeaten College of St. Scholastica Saints in a 90-61 defeat on Saturday.
After a back-and-forth start, the Saints took the lead with 15:04 to play in the first half and never relinquished it the rest of the way. CSS built a 38-25 halftime lead with the help of 30 points in the paint, and then shot 56.7 percent from the field in the second half as it pulled away with the win.
MLC struggled offensively in the opening half, shooting 28.9 percent from the field and 2-5 from beyond the three-point arc. MLC finished the game shooting 34.8 percent overall, including 3-11 from downtown.
The Saints finished the game with a 54-40 edge in points in the paint, and also out-scored MLC by 12 from beyond the arc and 16-0 in fast break points.

Jacob Price led MLC with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Price also tied
Jack Heichelbech for the team lead with six rebounds.Â
MLC fell to 1-7 on the season and 0-5 in UMAC play in defeat. CSS improved to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Monday, February 22, when they travel to Minnesota Morris for a game scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
