Saints Top Knights in Three

DULUTH, Minn. - The Martin Luther College volleyball team could not slow down unbeaten College of St. Scholastica (CSS) in a 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-11) defeat on Saturday.

The Saints took control of the match from jump, opening leads early in each set and hitting .254 on the attack for the match compared to the Knights' .000.

Jessica Remer was the top hitter on the day for either team, finishing with 15 of the Saints' 45 kills and hitting .325 for the match. Katie Brostrom added a match-high 32 assists for the Saints.

Kelsey Birschbach led MLC with seven kills, but the Saints were strong on the block against her and the other MLC hitters throughout the match. CSS finished with six total blocks, helping lead to 23 MLC attack errors.

Rhianna Hunter recorded six kills and hit .312 for MLC, while Kate Aswege led all players with 24 digs, pushing her over 900 digs for her career (908).

MLC fell to 2-3 on the season and 0-3 in UMAC play in defeat. CSS improved to 3-0 overall and 3-0 in league play with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Wednesday, March 17, when they host North Central in a match scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
