NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team dropped its home opener by the score of 3-0 to College of St. Scholastica (CSS) on Saturday.
The Knights hung tough in the first half, allowing only one goal on a diving header by Keegan Chastey in the 17th minute as CSS took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
The Saints added to their lead in the 56th minute on a goal by Finigan Huffington, and then added one more insurance tally three minutes later by Jordan Finneran to get the final 3-0 margin.
Josh Higgins was stellar in net for the Knights and finished with a career-high 18 saves in defeat.
Jake Vilhauer and
Justin Schroeder each recorded a shot for the Knights on offense.
MLC fell to 0-2 on the season and in UMAC play in defeat. CSS improved to 2-0 overall and in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, April 13, when they travel to Minnesota Morris for a game scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
