ST. PAUL - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team lost 2-1 at University of Northwestern-St. Paul (UNW).
The Knights were out-shot 16-4 in the first half, but held the Eagles scoreless until Kaylin Strike finally put them on the board just before the half in the 43rd minute.
The Eagles added to their lead in the 57th minute thanks to a goal by Danielle Roberts, but the Knights looked to make things difficult heading down the stretch.
Samantha Colvin gave the Knights life in the 79th minute on her first career collegiate goal, and the Knights had several chances in the final minutes to score the equalizer, but could not find it as the Eagles held on for the win.
Mollie Fischer stopped four of the six UNW shots on goal in defeat, while
Lydia Bitter led the team with three total shots.
Hannah Schroeder recorded a pair of shots, both of which were on goal.
MLC fell to 0-5-0 on the season and in UMAC play in defeat. UNW improved to 7-5-0 overall and 3-2-0 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Friday, April 23, when they host Northland College in a game scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
