NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College baseball team could not avoid the big inning in a pair of losses Wednesday to North Central University (NCU) by the scores of 17-5 and 15-0.

The Rams scored eight times in the third inning of game one to take a commanding lead on the way to that win, and then bettered that in game two with a nine-run fourth frame to secure the sweep.

Michael Fromm (0-5) started game one and pitched two-plus innings and allowed nine runs on 10 hits, while Jackson Lindemann (0-4) took the game-two defeat after pitching the first 3.1 innings and allowing 12 runs on nine hits.

Mason Cox led MLC at the plate with two hits in both games. Jonas Lindemann added two hits and two runs batted in during game one. Joey Behm and Caleb Heckendorf also drove in runs in the first game.

MLC fell to 0-15 overall and 0-10 in league play after the two defeats. NCU improved to 4-9 on the season and 3-7 in the UMAC with the two wins. 

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, May 1, when they travel to St. Scholastica for a doubleheader scheduled to start at 1:30 p.m.
