MANKATO, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team closed the regular season with a 6-3 loss at Bethany Lutheran College on Wednesday.
BLC jumped on top early by taking two of three in doubles competition. The number-three team of
Charis Glende and
Hannah Broring won their match 8-6, while the number-one team of
McKenzey Crowley and
Josephine Bieberitz took their match to the end in a 9-7 defeat.
The Vikings went on to secure the win in singles play, where they won four of the six matches. MLC gained its points from
Dana Pietrzyk (6-3, 6-4) in number-four singles, and
Charis Glende (6-4, 6-1) in number-five singles.Â
The Knights fell to 1-7 on the season and 1-5 in UMAC play in defeat. BLC improved to 2-5 overall and 2-4 in league play with the win.
MLC will return to action on Friday, April 30, when it travels to third-seed Minnesota Morris for a match in the opening round of the UMAC Championships tournament. That match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
