New Ulm, MN - The
MLC Knights took on the
Hamline Pipers on Wednesday night, following the previous night where the two schools' Men's programs faced off. The first half saw a tightly contested game between the two squads, which resulted in eight lead changes. At intermission, the Knights only trailed by nine points (34-23). However, the Hamline Pipers continued that solid team defense to start the second half and rode that full court press to a
78-49 win over MLC.
The key to Hamline's success started with their deep rotation and with the nice production from their bench. The Pipers outscored the Knights 47-18 in bench scoring. MLC did receive a solid performance from freshman guard,
Lydia Feidt, who led the Knights with 13 points, while shooting 55 percent from the floor. More impressively, Feidt crashed the boards with great fearlessness and effort, collecting 8 rebounds on the night. The only other MLC player to score in double figures was
Lauren Paulsen, who ended up with 10 points. Hamline was led by forward
Lydia Lecher who scored 23 points and also received a valuable defensive effort from
Chan'el Anderson-Manning, who proved to disrupt MLC's timing on offense the entire game with her physical man-to-man defense.
The
MLC Knights (2-2, 0-0) look to get back to their winning ways when they travel to Iowa (Friday, November 18th) to play Waldorf. The
Hamline Pipers improved to
(2-0, 0-0) with the Wednesday night victory.
