NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College softball team lost both games of its doubleheader against Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) by the scores of 18-2 and 21-1 on Wednesday.
BLC 18, MLC 2
The Vikings' offense proved too much for the Knights as they took game one 18-2.Â
BLC finished the opener with 21 hits and scored at least once in each inning, starting with three in the first inning and scoring as many as seven runs in the fourth.
The Knights got on the board in the fourth inning thanks to an Emma Mindock RBI-single, but were held to five hits as a team for the game.Â
Madison Uhlenbrauck (1-8) started the game and took the loss in the circle for the Knights.Â
BLC 21, MLC 1
The BLC line-up continued to roll in game two on the way to a 21-1 win.
After BLC scored twice in the first, the Knights answered with one run in the bottom half of the inning on a
Kylie Wolf single.Â
That would be all the Knights could muster, however, as the Vikings scored 11 times in the next two innings, and then capped the day with an eight-run fifth frame.
Wolf led MLC with two hits in the game.
Jessica Horn (2-6) started the game for the Knights and took the loss.
MLC fell to 5-15 on the season and 0-6 in UMAC play following the two losses. BLC improved to 18-11 overall and 8-2 in league play with the sweep.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, April 19, when they travel to Minnesota Morris for a doubleheader.Â
