MANKATO, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team defeated Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) 6-3 on Wednesday for its first win of the season.
The Knights started strong in doubles play, as the number-two team of
Charis Glende and
Sarah Hoffe won 8-3, and the number-three team of
Katie Kutz and
Abigail Schewe won 8-0 to give MLC a 2-1 overall lead in the match.
In singles,
McKenzey Crowley (6-3, 6-4), Glende (6-3, 6-3), Hoffe (6-0, 6-0) and
Hannah Broring (6-0, 6-0) each won in straight sets to secure the overall win with six total points.Â
MLC improved to 1-8 on the season and 1-3 in UMAC play with the win. BLC fell to 0-9 overall and 0-5 in league play in defeat.
The Knights' next scheduled match comes on Thursday, April 21, when they travel to Minnesota Morris for a match scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
