MORRIS, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team dropped its match at University of Minnesota Morris (UMM) 5-4 on Thursday.
The Knights started strong in doubles play with wins in two of the three matches. The Cougars took the number-one match 8-5, but the number-two team of
Charis Glende and
Sarah Hoffe won 8-4, and the number-three team of
Katie Kutz and
Abigail Schewe won 8-2.
Glende (6-3, 6-3) and Hoffe (6-0, 6-1) each won their singles matches in straight sets, but the Cougars took the other four matches to win the overall match 5-4.
McKenzey Crowley (0-6, 6-1, 1-0) and
Hannah Broring (6-3, 4-6, 1-0) each dropped third-set tiebreakers in their singles matches for MLC.
The Knights fell to 1-9 on the season and 1-4 in UMAC play in defeat. UMM improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in league play with the win.
MLC will return to action on Monday, April 25, when it hosts UMM in a match scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
