NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team opened the 2022 home schedule with a 9-0 defeat to UW-Superior (UWS) in the first official competition on the new tennis courts on Saturday.
The Knights battled the Yellowjackets and a strong wind throughout the day, with UWS jumping out to a strong start thanks to three doubles wins by the scores of 8-4, 8-2 and 8-4.
In singles competition, the Yellowjackets took all six matches in straight sets to score the 9-0 overall sweep.
MLC dropped to 0-5 on the season and 0-2 in UMAC play in defeat. UWS improved to 7-4 overall and 2-0 in league play with the win.
The Knights will return to action on Tuesday, April 5, when they host Bethany Lutheran in a match scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
