NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College men's tennis team lost its non-conference match to Wartburg by the final of 8-1 on Saturday.
Wartburg opened strong, defeating the Knights in all three doubles matches by the scores of 8-4, 8-6 and 8-2.
In singles,
Josiah Wordell scored the lone MLC point with a three-set win (4-6, 6-3, 1-0) in come from behind fashion in the number four position. Number-one singles player
Jonah Schulz (6-2, 4-6, 1-0) also took his match to three sets, but lost his tiebreaker 11-9.
The Knights fell to 0-6 on the season in defeat. Wartburg improved to 20-7 with the win.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday, April 12, when it hosts Bethany Lutheran in a match scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
