NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team could not defeat UW-Superior (UWS) during a windy home opener on Saturday.
The Knights scored a point in doubles and singles competition, but ultimately fell 7-2 to the Yellowjackets in a return match from earlier this week.
MLC scored its point in doubles with an 8-5 win by the number-one team of
McKenzey Crowley and
Tatum Schulz, but UWS won the other two doubles matches 8-6 and 8-5.
In singles play,
Sarah Hoffe won her number-five match in straight sets 6-4 and 6-4.
Charis Glende took her number-four singles match to three sets, but lost 7-6, 2-6, 1-0.
The Knights fell to 0-6 on the season and 0-2 in UMAC play in defeat. UWS improved to 3-11 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win.
MLC will return to action on Tuesday, April 5, when it hosts Bethany Lutheran College in a match scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
