NEW ULM, Minn. - The Martin Luther College baseball team could not overcome a huge first inning by Bethany Lutheran College (BLC) in an 11-1 loss on Tuesday.
The Vikings scored nine times in the opening frame, sending 13 batters to the plate and recording seven hits while also taking advantage of a pair of MLC errors.

Jonas Lindemann (1-2) settled into the game after the first inning, holding the Vikings off the board for the next three innings and getting the Knights through six innings with a total of 11 runs allowed (seven earned) on 12 hits with four strikeouts.
The Knights had several opportunities to get the offense going, but were unable to scratch a run across the plate until the seventh inning, when
Spencer Lilienthal hit a sacrifice fly that scored
Carter Seltz from third base.
Jackson Lindemann led the Knights at the plate with two hits.Â
MLC fell to 3-21 on the season and 3-11 in UMAC play in defeat. BLC improved to 14-12 overall and 10-5 in league play with the win.Â
The Knights are scheduled to return to action on Friday, April 29, when they travel to Minnesota Morris for a game scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
