The Martin Luther College Knights were downed by a potent Macalester Scots air attack, 43-7, Saturday night at Macalester. The Knights played a decent first half trailing only 10-0 despite a makeshift offensive line and early injuries to WR
Mason Cox and QB
Max Nordlie. The Scots posted 20 points in the third quarter to put the game out of reach. Macalester passed for 490 yards. MLC had almost as many first downs as the Scots, 20-19, but four turnovers, muffed snaps, and negative yardage plays put the team behind the sticks for most of the game.
Carson Oestreich led the Knights with 123 yards rushing on 29 attempts. Oestreich also took a few snaps at QB in the first half. First-year QB
Johnathan Slater scored his first touchdown in the fourth quarter to give the Knights their only score.
Nathan Golisch led the team with six tackles. MLC falls to 0-2 on the season; Macalester goes to 2-0. The Knights are home next Saturday when they host another MIAC opponent in Augsburg.
