The MLC Football team lost their season home opener to Concordia University-Wisconsin 35-14.

In a rematch of last season's opening game, Head Coach Paul Huebner led the Knights in his first career game at the helm. The Falcons got off to a 14-0 start before the Knights would score their first points of the new season on a massive 52-yard run by Carson Oestreich in the second quarter. A costly pick-6 by the Falcons posted a 28-point second quarter and gave them a 21-point lead going into the half. The Falcons would go on to score one more touchdown in the second half. The Knights would get one more touchdown in the final two minutes of the game.

Carson Oestreich ran for 146 of the 209 yards rushing for the Knights, including two touchdowns. Defensively, senior cornerback Nathan Golisch led in tackles with 6. Jon Holtz, Elijah Henning, and David Baumann had 5 tackles each. 

The Knights had trouble with the Falcons heavy air attack in the first half. Tim Houlihan led the Falcons in receiving yards with 137. However, MLC held the passing game of the Falcons to under 40 yards in the second half. 

As the Knights look to put week one in the books, they will now focus on their September 10th matchup with Macalester (St. Paul, MN) in order to get back to their winning ways.
