The MLC Knights defeated Macalester College in a headed match but came out on top on September 7, with the scores of 25-20, 13-25, 27-25, and 27-25.
The Knights came out on fire in the first set, taking down the Scots with a five-point gap. With Naomi Bridgemen leading the Knights with seven total digs, Kylie Wolf leading in assists, and Grace Kieselhorst with the most kills in the first set.
The Scots battled back and left their mark in the second set. They came back with an impressive with of 25-13. However, that did not last long. The Knights battled back after a rough set and took the Scots all the way to extra points in the third game. Winning 27-25, the leaders for the set were Hannah Willems in the kills and reception categories, Grace Kieselhorst with the most assists, and Hannah Foley with six digs.
Martin Luther College finished the night with another close set against the Scots but stood victorious, winning 27-25.
Head coach Emma Holzhueter said this about their win, "Our team did not give up on this match at any point. Even after a second set loss, we changed positions and players and found a new way to chase every point. They were confident and composed, and that helped them stay in it until the end."
Martin Luther College now has a record of 3-3.
