WINONA, MN - The Martin Luther College women's tennis team opened the 2023 season with a 9-0 loss at Saint Mary's University (SMU) on Saturday.

The teams started the match in doubles, where the Cardinals went 3-0 with wins by the scores of 8-0, 8-1 and 8-0.

In singles play, the Knights would fall in all six matches, but did pick up a win in one of the sets from Charis Glende (6-4, 3-6, 6-10).

MLC fell to 0-1 on the season in defeat. SMU improved to 1-0 with the win.

The Knights will return to action on Saturday, February 10, when they play at Morningside in a match scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m.
