New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College men's soccer team lost its home contest to Northwestern
3-1 on Wednesday.
The Knights fell behind 2-0 after a couple of goals from defender, Aaron Hill, in the first period. The Eagles would capitalize on their positioning in the field and got the ball inside the box to push their lead to 3-0 right before halftime at the 41st minute.
In the second period, MLC came out with more aggression and intensity and got the crowd more involved with their spirited play. As a result, the Knights were able to cash in on scoring opportunity late in the game, when
Isaias Santos scored his first goal of the season off a pass from
Josiah Wordell in the 84th minute.
The MLC offense got off 14 shots, with six on target, and the defense put together a blank spot collectively in the second period. Goalkeeper
Zachary Pausma recorded nine saves, but did have to leave the game on separate occasions due to injury.
The Knights (3-14,1, 1-11-1) hope to receive good news on the Pausma injury, as they go into their final home game of the year on Saturday, October 28, against North Central. Kickoff will occur at 3:30 p.m.
