New Ulm, MN - The Martin Luther College women's soccer team ended their Saturday afternoon contest with Northland in a
0-0 draw on Parents' Day.
The women put up a solid effort on both ends of the field and controlled the ball for the majority of the game, as they did in their previous meeting with the Lumberjills despite the 3-2 loss.
This time around, the defense didn't allow for any mishaps or for a couple of big Northland plays and helped
Rebekah Schroeder record the clean sheet.
The Knights outshot the Lumberjills 20-8, with a 14-8 advantage for shots on goal. MLC ramped up their shot attempts near the final 10 minutes of action, but were unable to close the deal on a shot.Â
Â
Rachel Schoeneck attacked the net throughout the game and fired off five shots (four on goal), whileÂ
Kaitlin Butler played aggressively on offense and rattled off four shots, with three on target.
Schroeder had eight saves for MLC, giving her a third shutout on the season.
MLC (3-7-2, 2-4-2) will play Bethany for the second time this year, when they head to Mankato for a road game on Wednesday, October 11. Kickoff is at 4:30 p.m.
