Box Score St. Paul, MN - The Martin Luther College volleyball team gave it their all on Wednesday evening in the UMAC Tournament Semifinal against Northwestern, but ultimately the Eagles demonstrated their No. 5 ranking in Division III to sweep the Knights
3-0 (13-25, 9-25, 15-25).
In the three sets, Northwestern had a hitting percentage of .514 and finished off 42 of their 70 attacks with kills to defeat MLC.
Ella Walz led MLC with 12 assists, while
Grace Kieselhorst and
Ella Schlei paced the Knights with six kills apiece.
Despite the loss in the semifinal, the women were able to appear in the UMAC Postseason Tournament for the seventh time in the last 10 years, with its most recent appearance occurring in 2021.
The senior class of
Hannah Foley, Naomi Bridgemen,
Megan Kieselhorst,
Paige Biesterfeld, and
Abigail Winkel picked up 32 wins and played in two UMAC Postseason games.
The Knights finish the season 8-19 overall and fourth in the conference in the second season under head coach
Emma Holzhueter, while Northwestern will go on to play in the UMAC Championship on Saturday, November 11 against the No. 3 seed UW-Superior Yellowjackets.
